Strassbourg, 16th of June 2010.

Initiated by the Executive Board of the European Dermatology Forum (EDF) at the occasion of the release of the 3rd edition of the “ White Book on Skin Diseases in Europe” five representatives of the Alliance of the four European Dermatological Associations have had the chance to meet the EU Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy John Dalli and members of his cabinet. A special exemplar of the White Book with original signatures and an exemplar of the European Dermatological Guidelines were presented to the commissioner.

The main topics which were discussed during the meeting were related to skin cancer, allergic diseases,other chronic inflammatory dermatoses and STI`s as well.

It is the policy of the new commissioner Dalli in particular to focus on prevention and educational programs in health care. Therefore,after a very fruitful meeting further steps have been planned together with regard to this important tasks for health care prevention in Europe. A next meeting with experts of the commissioners staff and the European Dermatological Associations under the guidance of the EDF will already take place in Brussels in autumn this year 2010.
