APPLICATION WILL START on 1st February, 2020

GENERAL INFORMATION

The UEMS European Board of Dermatovenereology Diploma (EBDVD) Examination is a test of excellence in Dermatology and Venereology. It is designed to assess the knowledge and clinical skills requisite to the delivery of a high standard of dermato-venereological care both in hospitals and in independent clinical practices.

The EBDVD Examination is the responsibility of the UEMS European Board of Dermatovenereology (UEMS-EBDV). The first examination was held in August 2007 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Thereafter, the examination has taken place in Frankfurt every year. Since the year 2016 has been installed computer-based online examination in cooperation with Orzone AB, Gothenburg, Sweden.

There are usually candidates from all over Europe and other countries outside the Europe. The EBDVD Examination in most countries of the European Union is voluntary. However, many countries in the Europe recognizes this examination as conforming to their own National Specialist Examinations.

The EBDVD Examination is regarded as a quality mark at the end of specialist training. Passing a European Board Examination does not give a right to practise in any country of the European Union Member State or a signatory country of the European Economic Area Agreement and the Switzerland. Such rights are granted solely by the relevant National Authority.

The EBDV Diploma/Certificate does not implicate automatic allowance to work at own responsibility and does not automatically enhance participation in national social security systems of the EU, EEA and the Switzerland. Recognition of EBDV Diploma by the national authorities is encouraged by the UEMS. The number of countries officially adopting the EBDV Diploma qualification with subsequent legal validation and automatic mutual recognition in the EU, EEA and the Switzerland is continuously rising.

Passing the EBDVD Examination will be a quality mark for you, which might be of use in your country.

Additionally, this might give you an extra mark if you decide to work in a European country provided that you fulfil other necessary requirements.

The exam is a prestigious qualification and would be a valuable addition to your CV. It is the highest honor EBDV can award.

EBDVD EXAMINATION FEE

  • 750 EUR for candidates from other countries

The EBDVD Examination Fee depending on the citizenship of candidate 550 EUR (+ bank fees) or 750 EUR (+ bank fees) should be paid by bank transfer.

The fee covers the administrative costs of organising the EBDVD examination, and it is not refundable if the candidate does not attend the examination or does not pass the examination. It is therefore very important that you pay if you are certain of your eligibility to sit the examination.

In case of some unexpected serious reasons, when a candidate can not sit the examination, he can apply for the postponement of the examination. Since each registration is related to already done administrative work and made pre-payments, only one half of your fee (275 EUR or 375 EUR depending on the citizenship of candidate) can and shall be deposited, but for one (the following) year only. Please be aware that in such a case the candidate is not included in the  list of candidates for the following year automatically, but he has to go through a simplified registration process again (only application form and payment of the relevant fee after receiving the confirmation of his acceptance for the examinations that year).

Every unsuccessful candidate has the right to retake the examination two times over a three-years´ period.
The following year (or later) he must go through a simplified registration process again – to send  his completed and signed application form and after receiving the confirmation of his acceptance for the examinations that year -  to pay the EBDVD Examination Fee of 550 EUR (+ bank fees) or 750 EUR (+ bank fees) depending on his citizenship. He has the possibility to retake only those sessions, which he did not pass the previous time.

Every successful candidate will receive the UEMS European Board of Dermatovenereology Diploma/Certificate (EBDVD) issued on his name.
On the same day after completion the whole examination, i.e. on Saturday from 17:00 till 18:00 and in the same Lecture Hall, where the examination was held, the successful candidates, who passed the examination, will receive their Diplomas/certificates. The repeaters repeating sessions on Friday will receive their Diplomas in half an hour after the last session, i.e. approx. around 18:30.

If, for reasons not caused by UEMS-EBDV, a candidate does not receive his Diploma at the same day after the examination together with all other successful candidates and asks for its sending by regular registered mail to the address received from him, the UEMS-EBDV is entiteled to charge such candidate for an extra amount of EUR 50,- for the extra work and costs. This amount will be paid to the UEMS-EBDV by a bank transfer.

It is very important to mention the candidate´s  name and surname in the reference section of the fee bank transfer. Without this information it is nearly impossible to allocate the payment to the relevant application. Please refer to the example outlined below.
